Evaluation of Tribulus terrestris Extracts Relative to Metformin on Oxidative Stress and Histopathology of the Liver for Diabetic Male Rats

Insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus (IDDM) is a metabolic condition that induces blood glucose levels to rise due insulin deficiency and the formation of reactive oxygen species (ROS). The purpose this study assess how efficient antioxidant extracts Tribulus terrestris (TT) metformin (MET) are in reducing oxidative stress histopathology produced by streptozotocin rat hepatocytes. 36 male rats weighing 170–190 g were randomly sorted into 6 groups. first group was considered normal control group, second third groups remedy with MET TT extract, respectively. fourth positive diabetic, fifth sixth diabetic treated Lipid peroxidation (LPO), catalase (CAT), glutathione-S-transferase (GST), glutathione (GSH) detected, liver evaluated after 8 weeks treatment. Compared regulation, morphological changes found animals, LPO change GSH as well CAT GST activities. histological architecture hepatocytes caused hyperglycemia improved result therapy extract. Because its activities, extract more effective than normoglycemia hepatocyte reconditioning. Beneficial intervention tends benefit primarily from direct ROS scavenging CAT, GST, regeneration.
